The best dog boarding software in the UK: fifteen kennel systems compared for 2026

Boarding software is priced in more ways than any other kind of dog software: by kennels, by rooms, by staff, by modules and by the year. So we took fifteen systems used by UK kennels and priced each one for the same business: about 20 kennels, with you and one member of staff. Every figure comes from the company's own website, read on 25 October 2026.

Sarah loading dogs into a van, next to a note: fifteen systems, one boarding kennel.

For a business with about 20 kennels and two people, most UK systems cost between £15 and £53 a month, and one is free for up to three staff. The bigger differences are what each one takes from your payments, and whether it can handle day dogs, grooming and collections alongside your stays.

What a boarding kennel pays a month

Bar chart of the monthly price for about 20 kennels with two people: TailPro free for up to three staff, Pawtal HQ £15, Avalon £20 a month as £240 a year plus £295 setup, Carica Pets £20, Barclo £29, BusyPaws £35, My Pet Walker £39.99, Collar £49, Genera £50, Revelation Pets £50, KennelBooker £52.99 plus VAT. Priced in other currencies: Pet Manager AU$85, Kennel Connection $149, Gingr $179.

What each one takes from your payments

When an owner pays by card, the card company takes its fee whichever system you use. Some systems take their own fee as well, either on top or as one combined charge. On a £300 stay, every 1% is £3.

What each system takes from a card payment. Genera nothing. KennelBooker nothing. Barclo nothing listed. Pawtal HQ 1% on top of the card fee. Collar its own 1.5% plus 20p, which includes the card fee. My Pet Walker its own 2% plus 20p, which includes the card fee, plus a payout fee. TailPro its own 2.49% plus 20p on the free plan and 1.99% plus 20p on Business. BusyPaws its own rates, set in dollars. Avalon has no online card payments. Carica Pets, Revelation Pets, Pet Manager, Kennel Connection and Gingr do not publish a fee.

Genera takes nothing from your payments. Owners pay into your own Stripe or GoCardless account, and the only fee is the card company's.

The UK and Irish systems

TailPro, free for up to three staff

TailPro is built in Uxbridge and is free for up to three staff, or £19.99 a month on its Business plan. It matches bookings to your kennel types, sets cleaning time between stays and keeps feeding and medication schedules. Its own fee on each online payment is higher on the free plan.

Pawtal HQ, £15 a month

Pawtal HQ is built in Yorkshire by a licensed home boarder and has one plan at £15 a month, or £160 a year. It holds capacity kennel by kennel, prints kennel and feed sheets and raises deposit and balance invoices for you. Your first ten bookings are free.

Avalon, £240 a year

Avalon is based in Oxfordshire and charges £240 a year for its online system, plus a one off setup fee of £295. Owners can see your availability on your website and send requests for you to approve. It records payments rather than taking cards online.

Carica Pets, £20 a month

Carica is priced by kennels and users, and a 20 kennel business needs its £20 Gold plan. It covers stays and rooms, a daily log for feeding and toileting, vaccination reminders and a taxi module for pick ups.

Barclo, £29 a month

Barclo charges one price for the whole team. It checks every night of a requested stay against how many dogs you can take, prices by the night and takes a deposit at booking. The same £29 also covers daycare, walking and grooming.

My Pet Walker, £39.99 a month

My Pet Walker covers kennels as well as walkers and daycares, priced by the number of users. It matches dogs to kennels automatically and holds boarding consent forms, medical notes and vaccine alerts.

Collar, £49 a month

Collar covers boarding alongside daycare, grooming, training and walking. It assigns bookings to pens with check in and check out, and lets you set seasonal prices and take deposits.

KennelBooker, £52.99 a month plus VAT

KennelBooker is run from Dublin and started with boarding kennels and catteries. It is priced by rooms, with any number of staff, and the £52.99 plan covers up to 30 rooms. It applies peak rates for you, splits a stay across kennels and records feeding, medication and exercise.

Sarah walking a pack of dogs, next to a note: the next five are run from North America or Australia, and some bill in other currencies.

The overseas systems

Revelation Pets, £50 a month

Revelation Pets is part of the Gingr family and prices in pounds. It has one click check in and check out, printed boarding cards, split bookings and an owner portal for repeat stays. Its Gold plan is £62 a month.

BusyPaws, £35 a month

BusyPaws shows the same price in pounds and dollars, and its £35 Stay plan covers one type of service for up to five staff. It has check in and check out, vaccine tracking and a calendar of who is staying. Its card rates are set in dollars.

Pet Manager, AU$85 a month

Pet Manager is run from Australia and bills in Australian dollars, with UK support during the day. Its Standard plan covers 30 spaces with any number of users, and its pricing rules handle seasons and holidays.

Kennel Connection, $149 a month

Kennel Connection is run from California and its cloud plan is $149 a month. It has waitlists, holiday pricing, deposits and a reminder about belongings at check out.

Gingr, $179 a month

Gingr is run from Atlanta and built for larger kennel and daycare buildings. Its Stay plan is $179 a month with Gingr's own payments, and it has a live room grid that assigns kennels for you.

And Genera, from £50 a month

Sarah feeding four dogs, next to a note: stays, day dogs and grooms, all on one calendar and one invoice.

We have been shaping Genera in our own business, Duncan's Dog Co, since 2011. Most dog businesses do more than one thing. A kennel takes day dogs in the summer, offers a bath before home time or collects dogs on the way in. Genera puts all of it on one calendar and one invoice, with each service set up the way you work.

  • Stays by the night. A sleepover is booked as a stay and charged by the night. Two switches decide whether the day the dog goes home is charged and whether a day of daycare is added.

  • Limits and approval. Nights have their own limit, and approval is on by default, so you check each request before it is confirmed.

  • Your own app. Owners request stays, see what they owe and keep their dog's details up to date in an app with your logo and colours.

  • Records. Each dog holds feeding notes, vet and emergency contacts, vaccinations, behaviour and incidents. Owners and staff get an email before a vaccination expires.

  • Deposits and invoices. Ask for a deposit on an invoice, and once it is paid it comes off the next invoice automatically. A long stay can be split across monthly invoices.

  • No fees on payments. Owners pay by card or Direct Debit into your own Stripe or GoCardless account, and it syncs with Xero or QuickBooks.

  • Documents. Upload your packing list and terms for owners to download before the stay.

  • Pricing. £50 for you and one member of staff, £75 for up to five of you with assessments and report cards, and £99 with no limit, adding routes, the driver app and owner messaging.

  • Help to get started. You get a WhatsApp group with us, we help bring your owners across, and the 30 day trial has every feature switched on.

Genera also caters for every other service you offer alongside your stays. Each one is set up as its own service, with its own price, times and places, and owners book it in the same app.

  • Daycare. Set each day's limit to your licensed number, and regulars keep their weekly days without being rebooked.

  • Grooming. Sell each groom in sizes with their own price and length, or give it set times you approve.

  • Collections. On the £99 plan, Genera puts your stops in order and gives your driver the address, key details and notes for each dog.

  • Training and classes. Run a course on set dates, with a limit on places and the trainer who takes it.

Sarah thinking, next to a note: pick the one that fits how you work, then compare the prices.

So which one?

Pick the system that fits how your kennel works, then compare the prices. If owners pay you by card, compare what each system takes from those payments as well as the monthly price. And if you also take day dogs, groom or collect, choose a system that handles all of it, so you never have to move your owners twice. That is what we built Genera to do.

Prices change, so check each company's own pricing page before you decide. We have also compared twelve daycare systems, eleven walking apps and fifteen grooming apps.

Questions people ask

What is the best kennel software in the UK?

There is no single best one. For about 20 kennels and two people, most UK systems cost between £15 and £53 a month, and TailPro is free for up to three staff. Compare what each takes from your payments, whether it bills in pounds and whether it handles day dogs, grooming and collections as well as stays.

Which boarding software takes no fee from payments?

Genera and KennelBooker take nothing on top of the card company's fee, and Barclo lists no fee. Pawtal HQ adds 1%, and Collar, My Pet Walker and TailPro charge their own fee.

Can boarding software take a deposit for a stay?

Most of the systems here take deposits, including Pawtal HQ, Barclo, Collar, Kennel Connection and Genera. In Genera you ask for a deposit on an invoice, and once it is paid it comes off the next invoice automatically.

Which systems handle daycare and boarding together?

Genera, Barclo, Collar, KennelBooker, My Pet Walker and Revelation Pets all cover both. In Genera, nights and days sit on the same calendar, each with its own price and limit.
